Falling is Part of the Plan

I am a leaf.

I feel the warm sun with its energy so strong,
I hear the birds whistle their sweet love song.

I smell the scent of the lush green land,
I fear nothing, for even Autumn is part of God’s plan.

I sway in the summer’s subtle breeze,
I see the magical dance of honey bees.

I shake in the night as a storm rushes in,
I keep hold even though my grip wears thin.

I live as if my time here is short,
I know this branch I will soon abort.

I laugh when it is my turn to fly away,
I will soon wish that I could have stayed.

I fall to the ground and land swiftly,
I carry my memories of life along with me.

I lose my color and seem to have no purpose,
I can’t help but miss the way my life was.

I wilt as I lay, but I won’t suffer,
I return to the earth to give life to others.
