Destyni

The dark night sky has never looked so bright. The area of woods I am resting in has a small opening in the canopy where you can see every little star glistening on top of a black background. It is amazing. To my left there is an elderly woman walking towards me. Seeing her means this night will not be as amazing as I thought…

“Destyni, what are you doing here?” she asks sternly. The look on her face seems worrisome.

“Preparing myself.  I need to make sure that if they do find me and catch up to me that I can defend myself with my new arts,” I say balancing some water on top of a leaf a few feet away from me.

“Of course. You are a mere human girl. It is not like you cannot run fast enough or jump high enough to evade them. Besides, it is not like you have any unnatural attributes like animal senses or traits.” She sarcastically fires back at me. I drop concentration and stare at her. Her face shows my wraths ability, turning red, and then blue, now violet. At this point, my eyes are wide open, my pupils narrowed like an animal’s. Then the glow. There is always that weird glowing light when my attacks are through vengeance. I wish it would just stop interfering. I am tired of this woman, and besides, I got what I needed from her anyways. She is no longer of worth to me.

Then I blink. I never blink. If I blink, I lose the grasp, I lose concentration. The only thing that is different this time is that I am moving, bouncing up and down. My eyes are somewhat out of focus, but I can tell that someone is carrying me.

“PUT ME DOWN YOU FOUL INFADEL!” I squeal as loud as a pig. The person carrying me just keeps walking. “Need I be clearer? PUT ME DOWN!” this time, I know they heard me. They lift me off of their shoulders and toss me to the ground. Somehow, their reflexes are fast enough to prevent me from getting back up, and now there is a sword at my jugular. I stop for a moment and stare at them. It is a man, he appears familiar…like I had seen him once before in a vision. “Who are you? What is it you want from me?”

“You do not need to worry yourself about that,” he said sternly. I wish I could contain my anger better. The moment he blinks, I push the sword towards him in an attempt to escape.

“No need to worry about you? You just kidnapped me and carried me out to some dense woods! How, sir, am I not-“I shout. But he grabs my arm pulls me back towards him and somehow we manage to get tangled into each other, face to face. He is warm, abnormally warm, and he has this scent that I just cannot pin a name on, like his face.  I break the stare by gliding down and out of his arms and jump towards a branch. I dangle there, upside down just staring at him. He simply smirks at my abilities, but that smirk turned bad quickly. He reaches for his waist and pulls out a handheld weapon. I have no clue what it is. He aims it at me and pulls something on it, then a crack and something comes speeding at me. I twitch, grab the object and sit up straight onto the branch. Now he’s staring at me again, only this time in shock.

“How on Earth did you manage to catch a bullet? It is hard enough to dodge one but catch it?” he says. Oh, how I love that bewildered look on his face. Now I know that I am faster than him, and can do something he cannot. But he still has one advantage over me now. I have that same expression on mine.

“Bullet? What is a bullet? And what it that fire powered weapon you hold?” I ask him, in true curiosity.

“A bullet is a projectile fired out of this, a gun. I was supposed to kill you with it,” he says, still obviously trying to figure out how I managed that.

“Kill me? You were trying to kill me? You are one of them aren’t you?”

“One of whom? The horrid bounty hunters? Not even!”

“Then why did you just try and kill me?”

“You killed that old lady! I needed to stop you and rid of a murder, especially one that is a witch!”

“She was a witch too you imbecile! She trained me! She is a druid!” He stands there. He has a shocked expression on him. The humans around here for some reason fear druid witches. I do not see how. They are usually alone and keep to themselves. She in specific was oddly practicing two separate witchcrafts: druid and wiccan. “What is wrong with you?” I glide down towards him. He panics, and takes off running into the woods. Then I realize. If I let him go, he will tell the townsfolk that there are witches in these woods. Instinctively, I follow him, and do to him as I did to the druid. Just this time, I did it manually, with my hands.

“I guess I should keep moving. Such a shame, I did not learn his name…but he seems familiar, as if I had seen him before…maybe in a vision from when I was created? Never the less, I guess I will just make my way to the next small village and see how I pillage through” I snort. Sometimes, I need to work on what is proper for humans. I know killing them is nowhere near acceptable, but I cannot help that thirst…
