Stained Glass Masquerade

See that girl sat in that chair

Frowning and hiding behind her hair?

She’s stuck in a battle within her mind;

Which part of her will she leave behind?

The war it rages but you’d never know;

All the pain and tears don’t show.

To find her pain, the tears she shed,

You must look for shades of red.

Killing herself to stay alive,

Standing on the edge, ready to dive.

Won’t look back, won’t face the truth

As she throws herself from the roof.

Falling down in the icy dark

She’ll soon be gone, won’t leave a mark.

Silently she sits and cries

As the best of her slowly dies.

But if you looked you’d never see

That she is drowning in her sea.

She threw away all she had,

She sings and smiles as she goes mad.

The smile on her face is painted on

To stop you from knowing everything’s wrong.

Falling apart, giving in

All she ever wanted was to be thin

But you mustn’t breathe a word of this,

Keep the secret, it won’t go amiss.

Mustn’t break the picture perfection,

Keep them looking in the wrong direction.

To struggle here is to be tossed aside

So don’t tell us of your suicide,

Smile as if you have nothing to hide.

She might have lived if you had tried.
