The Blue Tango

Coming face to face his arms came around me
The blue tango began.
We moved slowly, smoothly to the rhythm of the tango’s tempo,
Posing no difficulty we glided with ease and purpose to wherever
the music took us-
Deeper and closer we moved with marvelous poise in shadows
of suppression savoring the dance of decadent delight
A love scene played in slow classical tango tones of mystical movement
and surrender
His arms held me securely as I fell dipping into depths of proportions
of exquisite dimensions
A tango embrace that we knew could not be held forever
The time was coming for our milonguero* to end
Our eyes met sadly- unwilling to pull away from the gaze of passion
As he bent over me he said, “We won’t forget- this is forever ours to fall back upon”
Then conforming to all fairness, into the final blue notes of the tango- he faded away.

*”Milonguero tangos are only danced in a close embrace. Milonguero-style tango is typically danced with a slightly leaning posture… The embrace is also typically closed with the woman’s right shoulder as close to her partner’s left shoulder as her left shoulder is to his right, and the woman’s left arm is often draped behind the man’s neck.” (Taken From the Internet: Styles of Argentine Tango by Stephen Brown)
